This musical benefit for Project 111: The Safe Driving Movement is now in its second year.

Featuring Midland singer Sarah Schieber and the Michigan Jazz Trail Big Band, led by Jim Hohmeyer, this gala concert will celebrate American jazz standards and big band favorites. The 18 piece band is made up of musicians from all over Michigan.

The concert will also raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, the epidemic facing the United States, but especially teen drivers, who die at a rate of 11 students a day due to distracted driving alone.

The concert will benefit  Midland, MI non-profit PROJECT 111: The Safe Driving Movement. Project 111 works within the Midland County High Schools (see below) to educate students on safe driving. Project 111 rewards teens with monthly incentives for safe driving and being a good student. Incentives include Go-Pros, Apple watches, Ipads, and gift cards worth $300 to Nike, Ulta, and Lululemon.

This years gala concert is sponsored by The Dow Chemical Company and Garber Chevrolet. Laura Ambrose, Global Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety Operations for The Dow Chemical Company, is honorary chair of the event.

PROJECT 111 honors Midland police officer Chad Schieber, Badge 111, who died running the Chicago Marathon, 10/7/2007.  This was his DREAM.
