No Text November!

This is the perfect time of year to have the talk with your teen driver.

No, not THAT talk – you need to have the TEXTING talk. Sit your teen down and talk about staying distraction free. Explain to your young driver that you, too, are going to drive distraction free, and that you are willing to be a good example. This is #notextnovember, and you and your teen driver can both sign our pledge to not text and drive.

Sign Our Pledge

Winter is coming, and new drivers must be prepared for the rapidly changing conditions that come with snow and ice. Having hands free and fewer distractions will make winter driving safer for everyone.

Making a commitment between you and your teen driver will help both of you to be accountable to not pick up your phone while you are driving.

Follow us on Twitter @Project111_ and then post a photo of you and your teen driver(s) and your signed pledge. Use the hashtags #IAMProject 111 and #notextNovember and be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift certificate for your teen driver.

Take The Pledge: #IAMProject111

Project 111 is pleased to begin Safe Driving Week 2017 by rolling out the #IAMProject111 pledge – a vow that teens and their parent(s) make to each other to monitor and stop their distracted driving behaviors.

Print this document and then sit down with your teen driver to discuss distracted driving.

  • Talk about putting the phone down and leaving it down.
  • Talk about how there is nothing as important as getting there alive.
  • Be willing to set an example and to be accountable to each other.

Take the vow and sign, witness and date the document with each other. Put this pledge on the fridge or bulletin board to remind you to keep your promise to NOT TEXT AND DRIVE!

This is School Resource Officer Jeremy Davis and our MHS school rep Ashley Higgins, with Sarah Schieber, in front of the new Project 111 signs that are on all the stop signs leaving both our Midland high schools! The signs remind teen drivers of the goals of Project 111 – to reward them for safe driving and good decision making!
